Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V., along with its various subsidiaries, functions as a prominent petrochemical producer with an extensive international footprint, encompassing operations in Mexico, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. The company's operations are divided into two main business units: Polyester, and Plastics and Chemicals. The Polyester division is responsible for manufacturing purified terephthalic acid (PTA), a crucial raw material used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyester fibers. It also produces PET, a versatile plastic resin widely employed in beverage bottles, food containers, and various consumer product packaging solutions. This segment further processes recycled PET, re-purposing it for new bottles, containers, strapping, packing materials, and textile fibers for apparel and carpeting. Additionally, the Polyester unit supplies a range of polyester fibers, including staple fibers for applications in carpets, garments, and home furnishings, as well as filament fibers vital for clothing, automotive interiors, seatbelts, and industrial uses such as canvases, conveyor belts, and hoses. The Plastics and Chemicals segment focuses on the production of polypropylene, expandable polystyrene, caprolactam, and a diverse array of other chemical products. This includes both specialty and industrial chemicals, which serve as critical inputs for a broad spectrum of industries, including consumer goods, food and beverage packaging, automotive, construction, agriculture, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. Established in 1975, Alpek's corporate headquarters are situated in San Pedro Garza García, Mexico. The company operates as a subsidiary of Alfa, S. A. B. de C. V.
