The engineering and construction division is involved in multiple key areas. It manufactures and distributes industrial machinery, creates equipment and steel structures, undertakes contractual construction projects, manages waste processing and recycling initiatives, and supplies essential utilities like electricity, gas, and heat. Within its chemicals and materials operations, Nippon Steel focuses on the production and commercialization of a diverse portfolio. This encompasses chemical products derived from coal, petrochemicals, electronic materials, and critical components for semiconductors and other electronic devices. Additionally, they develop carbon fiber and composite products, alongside materials crafted using advanced metal processing techniques. The system solutions department offers specialized expertise in computer systems engineering and consulting. It also provides IT-enabled outsourcing services and various other forms of technological support. Founded in 1950, the company was previously known as Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation before officially changing its name to Nippon Steel Corporation in April 2019. Its corporate headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan.
