Within its Property segment, the company specializes in underwriting catastrophe excess of loss reinsurance and retrocessional reinsurance. These offerings protect insurance and reinsurance firms from a broad spectrum of natural disasters—such as hurricanes, earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, winter storms, freezes, floods, fires, windstorms, and tornadoes—as well as man-made events like explosions and acts of terrorism. This segment also offers diverse property-related products, including proportional reinsurance, property per risk coverage, general property reinsurance, binding facilities, and multi-line reinsurance tailored for the U.S. regional market. The Casualty and Specialty division encompasses a wide array of coverage types. These include professional lines like directors and officers, medical malpractice, and professional indemnity; various liability coverages such as automobile, employer's liability, casualty clash, umbrella or excess casualty, workers' compensation, and general liability. Additionally, it provides financial and credit-related products, including financial and mortgage guaranty, political risk, surety, and trade credit. The segment further extends to niche areas such as accident and health, agriculture, aviation, cyber, energy, marine, satellite, and terrorism risks. Distribution of its products and services is predominantly facilitated via intermediaries. Established in 1993, RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. maintains its headquarters in Pembroke, Bermuda.
