Profile

Headquartered in Juno Beach, Florida, NextEra Energy, Inc. was founded in 1925. Formerly known as FPL Group, Inc. until its rebranding in 2010, the company delivers extensive electricity services—spanning generation, transmission, distribution, and sales—to both individual consumers and large-scale clients throughout North America. Its power portfolio is diversified, incorporating wind, solar, nuclear, coal, and natural gas sources. Beyond its primary utility operations, NextEra Energy is actively involved in developing, constructing, and managing long-term contracted clean energy solutions, such as renewable power plants, battery storage projects, and electrical transmission networks. The firm also trades energy commodities and oversees power generation assets within wholesale markets. As of December 31, 2021, NextEra Energy boasted a substantial infrastructure, comprising approximately 28,564 megawatts of net generating capacity, an expansive grid of roughly 77,000 circuit miles of transmission and distribution lines, and 696 substations. In Florida, specifically along its eastern and lower western coastal areas, the company provides electricity to an estimated 11 million individuals through approximately 5.7 million customer accounts.
