McEwen Mining Inc. focuses on the discovery, advancement, extraction, and sale of gold and silver mineral deposits across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Argentina. The company additionally conducts exploration for copper deposits. Its wholly-owned key assets encompass the Gold Bar mine in Eureka County, Nevada; the Black Fox gold operation in Ontario, Canada; the El Gallo Project and Fenix silver-gold project in Sinaloa, Mexico; and the Los Azules copper deposit located in San Juan, Argentina. The firm also possesses a diverse portfolio of exploration properties throughout Nevada, Canada, Mexico, and Argentina. Furthermore, McEwen Mining holds a 49% interest in the San José mine situated in Argentina. Originally incorporated in 1979 and based in Toronto, Canada, the company operated as US Gold Corporation until its renaming to McEwen Mining Inc. in January 2012.
