Profile

Kinder Morgan, Inc. functions as a significant energy infrastructure enterprise, primarily operating across North America. The company structures its diverse activities into four main divisions: Natural Gas Pipelines, Products Pipelines, Terminals, and CO2. The Natural Gas Pipelines segment encompasses the ownership and management of an extensive network of interstate and intrastate natural gas pipelines, complemented by underground storage facilities. This division is also responsible for natural gas gathering systems, processing and treating plants, natural gas liquids fractionation and transportation infrastructure, and facilities for liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction and storage. Through its Products Pipelines segment, the company operates pipelines dedicated to transporting refined petroleum products, crude oil, and condensate. This also includes associated product terminals and specialized facilities for petroleum pipeline transmix. The Terminals segment is focused on owning and operating various liquid and bulk storage terminals. These facilities play a crucial role in storing and handling a wide array of commodities, such as gasoline, diesel fuel, chemicals, ethanol, metals, and petroleum coke. This segment also includes the ownership of tankers. Lastly, the CO2 segment concentrates on the production, transportation, and marketing of carbon dioxide, predominantly for enhanced crude oil recovery from mature oil fields. This division also possesses ownership interests in or manages oil fields and gasoline processing plants. Furthermore, it oversees a crude oil pipeline system in West Texas and operates facilities for both renewable natural gas (RNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Overall, Kinder Morgan maintains a vast infrastructure network, comprising approximately 83,000 miles of pipelines and 143 terminals. The company, initially named Kinder Morgan Holdco LLC, officially adopted its current name, Kinder Morgan, Inc., in February 2011. It was established in 1936 and its corporate headquarters are situated in Houston, Texas.
