Profile

Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM) is a global agribusiness powerhouse, orchestrating a vast network of agricultural activities across three key divisions: Ag Services and Oilseeds, Carbohydrate Solutions, and Nutrition. The company's operations span numerous international markets, including the United States, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the Cayman Islands. ADM's core business involves sourcing, storing, cleaning, transporting, processing, and distributing a wide array of raw agricultural materials, such as oilseeds, corn, wheat, milo, oats, and barley. It also plays a significant role in the import, export, and distribution of agricultural commodities and animal feed products, further supported by its structured trade finance offerings. Its extensive product portfolio caters to diverse needs, ranging from essential food ingredients and culinary staples such as vegetable oils, salad oils, margarine, and shortening, to specialized components for animal feed, energy, and industrial applications. These include protein meals, partially refined oils used in biodiesel and industrial glycols, peanuts and their derivatives, and cotton cellulose pulp. The company is also a major producer of sweeteners (like corn and wheat starches, syrup, glucose, and dextrose), wheat flour, various alcohols (including ethyl alcohol and ethanol), corn gluten feed and meal, distillers' grains, and citric acids. Under its Nutrition segment, ADM develops and supplies natural flavors and colorings, diverse proteins, emulsifiers, soluble fibers, polyols, and hydrocolloids. This division also focuses on natural health and wellness products, offering probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, and botanical extracts, alongside other specialty food and feed ingredients. Additionally, it provides edible beans, tailored formula feeds, animal health and nutrition solutions, and contract or private label pet treats and foods. Beyond its physical commodity operations, ADM also provides financial services, acting as a futures commission merchant and offering commodity brokerage. It manages associated financial activities, including pledging cash margins and securities to commodity exchange clearinghouses and providing cash as security for specific insurance arrangements. Founded in 1902, Archer-Daniels-Midland Company maintains its corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
