Profile

Drax Group plc, established in 2005 and headquartered in Selby, UK, specializes in renewable power generation across the United Kingdom. The company's activities are organized into three key segments: Generation, Customers, and Pellet Production. The Generation segment is responsible for delivering dispatchable, renewable electricity and crucial system support to the national grid. The Customers segment provides energy management services and non-generation system support. Through its Pellet Production segment, Drax supplies low-carbon fuel. The company's substantial asset portfolio includes the 2,000-megawatt Drax Power Station located in Selby, North Yorkshire, and the 440-megawatt Cruachan pumped hydro storage station in Argyll and Bute. Furthermore, Drax operates hydroelectric power stations in southwest Scotland (Lanark and Galloway) with a combined capacity of 126 megawatts. Beyond power generation, Drax also owns the Daldowie fuel plant, where sludge is converted into dry, low-odour fuel pellets. The company also manufactures and sells compressed wood pellets and is a supplier of renewable electricity.
