Profile

Südzucker AG, a German company established in 1837 and based in Mannheim, is a global player in the production and sale of sugar products. The company operates through five key segments, each serving diverse markets. Its foundational Sugar segment supplies various forms of sugar, specialty sugars, glucose syrup, and animal feed to the food industry, retailers, and agriculture, making use of sugar by-products. The Special Products segment provides functional food ingredients such as dietary fibers, sugar substitutes, and specialized starches/proteins for food, animal feed, non-food, and pharmaceutical applications. This segment also extends its offerings to include convenience foods like frozen pizzas, pasta, and sauces, as well as portion-packed items for hotels, caterers, and retailers. CropEnergies specializes in bio-based products, manufacturing fuel-grade ethanol, rectified spirits, protein-rich animal feed, and liquid CO2 for energy, industrial, pharmaceutical, and food/beverage sectors. The Starch segment offers a range of starches, saccharification products, ethanol, and by-products like animal feed and fertilizers, catering to industries from food and paper to textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and petroleum. Lastly, the Fruit segment produces fruit preparations for the dairy, ice cream, and baked goods industries, alongside fruit juice concentrates, pure juices, natural aromas, and beverage bases for the beverage industry. Beyond its industrial operations, Südzucker AG is also involved in agricultural activities, cultivating crops such as wheat, sugar beet, corn, and rapeseed. The company is a subsidiary of Süddeutsche Zuckerrübenverwertungs-Genossenschaft eG.
