Hapag-Lloyd Aktiengesellschaft, along with its subsidiaries, operates as a global leader in liner shipping. The company leverages its extensive fleet of vessels and containers to transport a diverse array of goods, encompassing general and specialized freight, hazardous materials, coffee, and temperature-controlled (reefer) cargo, including vital pharmaceuticals. To enhance customer experience and streamline operations, Hapag-Lloyd provides a comprehensive suite of digital solutions. These include bilateral electronic data interchange (EDI), an e-commerce portal offering real-time access to transport data, tools for managing customer supply chains, and a single interface for connecting with carriers. Additionally, a dedicated mobile application facilitates the shipping process, complemented by email and security information services. Beyond its maritime operations, the company also extends its logistics offerings to include inland container transportation, executed via truck and rail networks. As of December 31, 2021, Hapag-Lloyd maintained a substantial fleet of 253 container ships, boasting a combined capacity of 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). Its overall container inventory reached approximately 3.1 million TEU. Established in 1847, Hapag-Lloyd Aktiengesellschaft is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.
