Established in Tokyo, Japan, in 1917, Nikon Corporation is a global leader in the production and distribution of precision optical instruments. Its global presence covers Japan, North America, Europe, China, Thailand, and various other international markets. The corporation organizes its diverse activities into three primary divisions. The Imaging Products Business specializes in the design, manufacture, sale, and servicing of digital single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras, compact digital cameras, and interchangeable lenses. The Precision Equipment Business provides advanced FPD lithography systems and semiconductor lithography systems. Meanwhile, the Healthcare Business delivers biological microscopes, cell culture observation systems, and ultra-wide field retinal imaging devices. Beyond these principal segments, Nikon's extensive product offerings also include industrial microscopes, precision measuring instruments, non-contact 3D metrology systems, X-ray/CT inspection systems, and surveying equipment. Furthermore, its comprehensive portfolio encompasses customized solutions, specialized glass, encoders, ophthalmic lenses, photomask substrates, camera components, sport optics, molded optical glass, and the development and provision of computer software.
