Profile

Daiwa Securities Group Inc. (DSECF), headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, operates predominantly as a securities brokerage and dealing firm across both domestic and international markets, alongside its various subsidiaries. Established in 1902, the company adopted its current name in 1999, having previously been known as Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd. Its extensive operations are structured across four distinct business segments: Retail, Wholesale, Asset Management, and Investment. The Retail segment caters to individual investors, delivering online and telephone-based securities services through a broad network of 177 physical branches and sales offices, complemented by non-face-to-face channels such as its internet platform and dedicated call center. The Wholesale segment focuses on institutional investors and corporate clients, offering comprehensive sales and trading services for equities, bonds, foreign exchange, and derivative products. This division also provides robust investment banking solutions, including securities underwriting and M&A advisory. The Asset Management segment is responsible for structuring and overseeing investment trusts, primarily for individual clients and financial institutions, while additionally providing specialized investment advisory services and general asset management. The Investment segment engages in direct investment ventures, encompassing loans, private equity, and real estate, alongside strategic commitments in the energy, infrastructure, and resource sectors. Beyond these core business areas, Daiwa Securities Group offers a wide array of services including research and consulting, information technology solutions, banking, insurance, wrap accounts, and inheritance-related planning. The group is also actively involved in other securities-related businesses, investment advisory and agency services, investment management, and the lending and borrowing of real estate properties.
