The company operates through five distinct business units: Offshore Engineering & Construction (E&C), Onshore Engineering & Construction, Offshore Drilling, Onshore Drilling, and XSIGHT. Its services encompass the full spectrum of engineering, construction, and installation for platforms, pipelines, and subsea fields, complemented by maintenance, modification, operational support, and decommissioning activities. Saipem is also actively involved in developing marine wind farms and advanced energy integration projects. Within its onshore operations, the company designs and executes projects across numerous critical sectors, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and regasification facilities, refining, petrochemical, and fertilizer plants, as well as pipelines, gas and oil processing stations, floaters, renewable energy installations, biotechnologies, carbon capture, transportation, and storage, alongside hydrogen production and logistics. Furthermore, Saipem delivers integrated services covering procurement, project management, construction, and engineering for both the energy industry and public infrastructure. Its drilling capabilities extend to both offshore and onshore environments, utilizing various rig types across diverse geographical regions. As of December 31, 2021, Saipem's impressive asset portfolio included an offshore drilling fleet of twelve specialized vessels, featuring six ultra-deep-water units, five high-specification jack-ups, and one standard jack-up. The company also managed nine fabrication yards, a maritime fleet of 41 vessels, and an onshore drilling fleet comprising 84 units.
