Profile

Companhia Paranaense de Energia - COPEL, founded in 1954 and based in Curitiba, Brazil, is an energy enterprise. Its primary operations include the production, transformation, supply, and sale of energy to a broad range of consumers, such as industrial, residential, commercial, and agricultural clients, predominantly within Brazil's Paraná State. Beyond its core electricity business, the company also engages in the distribution of piped natural gas. COPEL's activities are divided into segments covering power generation and transmission, power distribution, gas services, and energy trading. As of December 31, 2021, the company's assets comprised 20 hydroelectric facilities, 30 wind farms, and 1 thermoelectric plant, boasting a total installed capacity of 5,957 megawatts. Additionally, it maintained 3,638 kilometers of transmission lines and an extensive 204,957 kilometers of distribution lines. COPEL holds concessions permitting it to distribute electricity in 394 municipalities throughout Paraná State, as well as in Porto União, Santa Catarina State.
