Profile

Tesla, Inc. develops, manufactures, leases, and sells electric vehicles and advanced energy generation and storage systems across the United States, China, and other international markets. The company's operations are primarily divided into two core divisions: Automotive, and Energy Generation and Storage. The Automotive segment focuses on electric vehicles, encompassing the design, production, and sale of sedans and sport utility vehicles. It also extends services such as purchase financing, leasing, non-warranty after-sales maintenance, the resale of pre-owned vehicles, retail merchandise, and vehicle insurance. Furthermore, the segment supplies products to third-party customers and provides comprehensive support for electric vehicles through its company-owned service centers, mobile technician visits, and various warranty plans, including extended service options. The Energy Generation and Storage segment is dedicated to engineering, producing, installing, selling, and leasing solar power generation products and energy storage solutions. These products and associated services are supplied to a diverse clientele, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers, as well as utility providers. Distribution channels span its official website, physical stores, galleries, and a robust network of channel partners. This division additionally provides maintenance and repair services for its energy products, including warranty support, and offers flexible financing alternatives to its solar customers. Founded in 2003, the company initially operated as Tesla Motors, Inc., officially rebranding to Tesla, Inc. in February 2017. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Austin, Texas.
