Profile

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and established in 1884, Komatsu Ltd. is a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of a broad spectrum of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The company's operations are structured across three primary divisions: Construction, Mining and Utility Equipment; Retail Finance; and Industrial Machinery and Other Specialized Products. Within its core equipment segment, Komatsu produces an extensive range of vehicles and tools crucial for large-scale infrastructure, resource extraction, and utility projects worldwide. This encompasses powerful earthmoving machines like hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers, motor graders, and dump trucks, alongside specialized mining apparatus such as electric rope shovels and continuous miners. The company also supplies compact utility equipment and mini-excavators. Beyond these, Komatsu's diverse portfolio includes material handling solutions like forklift trucks; advanced forestry equipment, including harvesters and feller bunchers; and recycling machinery such as mobile crushers. They also specialize in tunneling equipment, offering shield and tunnel-boring machines. Furthermore, the company manufactures critical components such as diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and iron and steel castings. Komatsu's industrial machinery division provides sophisticated metalworking tools, including forging and stamping presses, various sheet-metal processing machines (e.g., laser cutting and press brakes), and precision machine tools for manufacturing processes. Their technological offerings extend to semiconductor lithography tools, thermoelectric modules, and temperature-control systems for semiconductor production, as well as defense-related equipment. Ancillary services like warehousing and packing are also provided. To support its comprehensive product line, Komatsu offers a full suite of aftermarket services, including wear parts, regular replacement components, attachments, and remanufactured parts. Additionally, the company facilitates the acquisition of its construction and mining equipment through dedicated retail financing options.
