Profile
Western Capital Resources, Inc. (WCRS) operates a diverse retail enterprise across the United States, facilitated by its various subsidiaries. Its operations are structured into four distinct segments: Cellular Retail, Direct to Consumer, Manufacturing, and Consumer Finance. The Cellular Retail division functions as an official Cricket Wireless partner, providing customers with cellular phones, accessories, and complementary services, while also serving as a payment hub. Its Cricket-branded stores deliver a comprehensive suite of offerings, such as Cricket wireless service plans, plan enhancements (e.g., Cricket International, country-specific add-ons, Cricket Protect, and mobile hotspots), Cricket-branded devices, and a wide selection of general cellular accessories. Through its Direct to Consumer segment, WCRS engages in the online and direct-to-consumer distribution of live plants, seeds, holiday gifts, and gardening supplies, marketed under the Park Seed, Jackson & Perkins, and Wayside Gardens labels. This segment also includes wholesale operations via the Park Wholesale brand. Furthermore, it offers home improvement and restoration items under the Van Dyke's Restorers brand, distributed through both online platforms and mail-order catalogs. The Manufacturing division produces equipment such as mowers, safety shelters, agricultural tools, timber management machinery, and string trimmers, primarily under the Swisher brand. Beyond its own product lines, this segment extends turnkey manufacturing solutions to other companies, encompassing services like powder coating, fabrication, assembly, distribution, welding, engineering, design, and general contract manufacturing. WCRS's Consumer Finance segment provides sub-prime, short-term, uncollateralized, non-recourse cash advance and installment loans, alongside check cashing and various other financial services. It also owns and manages retail pawn shops. By December 31, 2021, the company's operational footprint included 229 cellular retail outlets, 19 payday loan establishments across Iowa, Kansas, North Dakota, and Wyoming, and 3 pawn shops located in Nebraska and Iowa. Incorporated in 2001, Western Capital Resources maintains its corporate headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.
