The company operates through several distinct divisions, including UPM Biorefining, UPM Energy, UPM Raflatac, UPM Specialty Papers, UPM Communication Papers, UPM Plywood, and various other segments. In its biorefining operations, UPM produces diverse pulps such as softwood, birch, and eucalyptus, which are integral to manufacturing tissue, specialty, and graphic papers, as well as packaging materials. A key offering is wood-based renewable diesel and naphtha, which caters to the petrochemical industry. UPM Energy is dedicated to electricity generation, leveraging both hydroelectric and nuclear power facilities. The UPM Raflatac segment specializes in self-adhesive label materials, essential for branding, promotional efforts, information dissemination, and functional labeling in sectors like food, beverages, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and logistics. Through its Specialty Papers and Communication Papers segments, the company provides a wide array of paper products. This includes label papers, release base papers, office papers, and flexible packaging solutions used for labeling, packing, commercial siliconizing, and printing. Furthermore, it offers graphic papers for advertising, publishing, and general home and office use. UPM Plywood manufactures plywood and veneer products, which are utilized in construction, vehicle flooring, liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipbuilding, parquet manufacturing, and numerous other industrial applications. Beyond these primary areas, UPM-Kymmene also supplies wood and wood-based biomass, and offers forestry services to both forest investors and owners. The company innovates with wood-based lignin products for industrial purposes, cell hydrogels for advanced 3D cell culturing, UPM ProFi decking products, UPM formi granules, and various biomedical products.
