Profile

TranSwitch Corporation developed and provided integrated circuit (IC) and intellectual property (IP) solutions critical for voice, data, and video communication devices. These solutions served both end-user (customer premises) and large-scale network infrastructure markets. The company's offerings included advanced multi-core network processor system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for applications like fixed-line, 3G/4G mobile, VoIP, and multimedia. For network operators, TranSwitch supplied converged infrastructure products such as VoIP processors for both wired and wireless carrier equipment, and EoS/EoPDH mappers and framers to facilitate data transmission over SONET, SDH, and PDH networks. Its portfolio for broadband customer premises equipment comprised connectivity solutions like HDMI, DisplayPort, MHL, HDP, Ethernet IP cores, and MHDP transceivers, targeted at consumer electronics, home network devices, and industrial/automotive sectors. Additionally, it offered multi-service SoCs designed for CPE to manage telephone voice, fax, and routing functions across broadband access networks. TranSwitch's clientele spanned various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in public networking, WAN/LAN, Internet, and communications testing, as well as governmental, academic, and private laboratories. The company operated with direct sales in North America, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, and Europe, supplementing this with a distributor network across North America, Asia, and Europe. Established in Shelton, Connecticut in 1988, TranSwitch Corporation ceased operations by filing for Chapter 7 liquidation on November 21, 2013, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut.
