Profile

Established in 1996 and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Stora Enso Oyj is a global provider of sustainable and renewable solutions across the packaging, bio-based materials, timber construction, and paper sectors. The company organizes its operations into several distinct segments. Its Packaging Materials division supplies eco-friendly, recyclable packaging materials crafted from both virgin and recycled fibers, serving the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and transportation industries. This segment also provides design services, automation solutions, and innovative formed fiber and wood foam products for a variety of markets, including retail, e-commerce, and industrial applications. The Biomaterials segment manufactures various grades of pulp for producers of paper, board, tissue, textiles, and hygiene products, while also extracting tall oil and turpentine from biomass. Wood Products offers timber-based solutions, which include digital tools for designing building projects, sawn timber, and pellets for heating, alongside components for windows, doors, and packaging. Through its Forest segment, Stora Enso manages forests sustainably and ensures a steady supply of wood. The Paper segment delivers paper products suitable for printing and office applications. An Other segment includes the company's stake in Pohjolan Voima Oy, which is involved in electricity and heat generation. Stora Enso caters to a diverse clientele, including packaging manufacturers, brand owners, paper and board producers, publishers, retailers, printing houses, converters, joinery firms, and construction companies.
