Palmetto Real Estate Trust operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT) in the United States. It owns and leases commercial properties throughout South Carolina, primarily in the Greenville, South Carolina. Palmetto Real Estate Trust qualifies as a REIT for federal income tax purposes. As a REIT, it would not be subject to federal income tax to the extent that it distributes at least 85% of its taxable income to its shareholders. The trust, formerly known as Palmetto Industrial Corporation, was founded in 1972 and is based in Greenville, South Carolina.
