Cygnus Oil and Gas Corporation, an energy company in its developmental stages, primarily engaged in the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas. Its operational scope encompassed both the United States and New Zealand, where it maintained interests in 13 separate oil and gas initiatives. Founded in 2001, initially operating under the name Touchstone Resources USA, Inc., the corporation was based in Houston, Texas. Financial difficulties led Cygnus Oil & Gas Corp. to file a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston, on April 3, 2007. This reorganization effort was subsequently converted into a Chapter 11 liquidation, which gained approval on September 19, 2007.
