In the natural gas market, Enel handles transportation, commercialization, and the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Its operational scope includes the design, development, construction, ongoing management, and maintenance of various infrastructure, such as power generation facilities, distribution grids, and commercial transmission lines. Beyond this, Enel is also involved in a diverse array of other undertakings: energy and infrastructure engineering, pioneering research and development in science and engineering, combined heat and power generation (cogeneration), and the construction and oversight of port infrastructure. The company also provides product and equipment certification, engages in mining, offers financial services, markets energy products, conducts trading activities, and manages fuel trading and logistics. Further expanding its reach, Enel is active in the development and management of LNG regasification infrastructure, water desalinization and supply systems, electricity system monitoring, and the operation of optical fiber networks. The company delivers a comprehensive suite of professional services, including testing, inspection, and certification. It provides extensive engineering and consulting services (covering business, management, corporate planning, civil, mechanical, and electrical fields), legal support, and advanced solutions for metering, remote control, and connectivity via power line communication. Additionally, Enel offers administrative, personnel, information technology, and real estate services, alongside the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic plants, and security provisions. Moreover, Enel provides critical infrastructure services like water systems and public lighting, advances electric mobility solutions, and conducts environmental impact studies. Its substantial power generation portfolio draws from a wide variety of sources, including renewable technologies such as wind, hydroelectric, photovoltaic, and geothermal energy, in addition to thermal and nuclear power plants. Enel was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Rome, Italy.
